Zero incidents. Zero compromise.
From last-mile port operations to international cross-border freight, RRF provides flexible, safety-certified rail services tailored to the complex logistics demands of the Port of Rotterdam and beyond.

Founded in 2004 by Karel Poiesz, a former Dutch Railways train driver who identified the demand for flexible, independent rail services following privatisation of the Dutch rail sector. What began as a single assignment at ECT on Maasvlakte-West has grown into the leading independent rail service provider in the Port of Rotterdam.
In 2008, RRF was acquired by Genesee & Wyoming Inc. for $21.4M. At the time of acquisition, RRF had approximately 35 staff. The company has since grown to over 90 employees, with 25+ locomotives running in the recognisable green-yellow livery across the Netherlands and Germany. In 2019, G&W was taken private by Brookfield Infrastructure & GIC. RRF today operates under Freightliner Group Ltd.
A lean organisation designed to stay close to customers. We listen, adapt, and create flexible logistics packages that address individualised service needs, reducing costs and increasing margins. As they say in Rotterdam: Geen woorden maar daden.
"Our mission is to be the safest and most respected rail service provider in the world. Our goal every day is zero injuries."
Safety is not a department at RRF. It is the foundation of everything we do. Our first priority is the safety of our people and our railroads. Operational efficiency and commercial growth only follow once safety is secured.
Staff undergo continuous Non-Technical Skills training and operate within G&W's global safety management system. Every locomotive in our fleet is equipped with active safety systems including ETCS on-board units, making RRF one of the first carriers in the Netherlands to deploy ETCS technology.
Als een van de weinige spoorbedrijven in de Benelux beschikt RRF over officiële spoorwegveiligheidsvergunningen in zowel Nederland als Duitsland, voor naadloze grensoverschrijdende operaties zonder tussenstop.
A freight train removes up to 50 trucks from the road. Rail delivers cargo with two-thirds less CO₂ and NOₓ emissions per tonne-kilometre than highway transport. RRF makes the modal shift from road to rail measurable, accessible, and scalable.
